Welcome message
Welcome
to the official website of the 8th Larval Biology Symposium which
will be hosted by IPIMAR- Instituto Nacional de Recursos Biológicos,
Lisbon, Portugal from 6th to 11th July 2008.
The conference aims to promote the exchange of information and
enhance international research collaboration. The symposium programme
was planned to cover a wide range of research areas, therefore
five symposia were chosen to give a more comprehensive rather than
specialized approach. In particular, we would like to encourage
the participation of students, as well as professional researchers
from Europe and all over the world. This symposium is an excellent
opportunity to gather and exchange ideas with many colleagues from
all over the world having Lisbon as scenario.
Lisbon was most likely founded by the Phoenicians and styled by
the Moores, which is shown in the strong Arabic influences seen
in many things. In the 12th century the Christians re-conquered
the city but it was not until the mid 13th century that became
the capital of Portugal. Lisbon is a historic capital, a potpourri
of unusual character and charm, where more than 800 years of cultural
influences mingle with modern trends and life styles creating spectacular
contrasts.
So, come and enjoy! Recruitment is starting!
